I’m using the sign-up sheet plugin to track sign-ups for hockey scrimmages. It was our first scrimmage of the year, so the sign-up sheet ended up being at the bottom of a very long post explaining how things would work. The sign-up confirmation page (the first page you land on after clicking “sign up”) was often lost in the noise, as the rest of the post was still being displayed. Some players missed the confirmation link and failed to sign up.

This was also our first use of the plugin, so there were some lessons learned. I could think of some fixes for ways of keeping this from happening in the future:

      1) Hide the rest of the post during the sign-up confirmation page.

      2) Move the confirmation link to the top of the post.

      3) Add an HTML anchor to the confirmation page, and have the sign-up link include the anchor. The final page (after confirmation) likely doesn’t need an anchor.

From what I know of WordPress, #1 and #2 both seem hard. #2 might be possible with a second shortcode, but is still complicated regardless. #3 seems like an easy addition.

Not sure what you mean by “confirmation link” after they sign up. Do you just mean the confirmation message that says they have been signed up?

There are also a couple of other alternatives:

      4) Put your long description into the sheet description itself instead of above the shortcode on the page. Then, when you click on sign-up, that description won’t show. After signing up, the confirmation message will then be on top of the long description.

      5) Check the setting for “Redirect Sign Ups to Main Page?” and set up a main volunteer page with the basic shortcode (no arguments), and no other page content, and set that page in the drop down list above that check box option. Now, when somebody clicks on a sign-up link, they will be redirected to that page for the sign-up form.

#5 looks like it will work perfectly. Thanks!
