Greetings-
We are currently using the PTA Volunteer Sign Up Sheets and PTA Short Codes plugins with great success. Thank you for donating those to the community.
Now we’d like to make people sign-up with accounts via your PTA Member Directory and Contact Form plugin.
If we want to add volunteer opportunities along with the initial account signup would we need an additional plugin? Looking through the paid plugins it appears there’s one that uses Gravity Forms that can do almost anything. We can get budget but our needs our not that fancy.
Initially we’ll just be looking for committee & event chairs for things happening throughout the coming school year.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris,
The PTA Member Directory doesn’t create any WordPress user accounts, nor does it use them in any way. It was designed as a simple method to list school PTA members by position, and to provide a way to contact an individual or a group of people (all people who have the same position) for my son’s school PTA web site several years ago. It still requires an admin user, or user with at least PTA Manager role, to manually add all the members in the back end.
The Gravity Forms extension allows you to replace the simple built-in contact form with a much more advanced contact form using Gravity Forms, which would allow you to add extra fields or any other features of Gravity Forms.
On our PTA site, we had people sign-up for either a free account, or a paid PTA membership, using WooCommerce, which then created their user account at checkout. So, no user account features were built-in to the member directory.
A few years back I started working on an extension to incorporate user accounts into the member directory, and to allow directory submissions from the front end as well, but that project was abandoned due to the extreme lack of interest/sales in any of the paid extensions, or any type of plugin support from the public, and because I got extremely busy with custom development jobs as well as the much better selling WooCommerce extensions I sell.
So, I’m sorry to say at this point that I don’t have a pre-built solution for you, and the member directory and its extensions are probably not what you are looking for if you need something more than a simple directory listing and contact form.
If you just need a way to sign-up new users for your WordPress site, and you don’t like the simple built-in WordPress registration page, there are many free plugins at WordPress.org that can replace registration pages, login page, etc. Or, if you want something custom, you could use Gravity Forms with their own User Registration add-on, to create a custom site registration form. Gravity Forms also has a PayPal add-on (as well as some other payment gateways), so if you want to get PTA Membership fees from them at the same time as they register with your site, you could probably create a form that could do both at the same time.
