      Hello,
Trying to update the plugin to 1.6.6 and keep getting an unauthorized error.

Which plugin? You are posted in the general forum instead of the support forum for a specific plugin.

Usually that error means you don’t have an active license, or your license has expired. You need to activate the license in the plugin settings to be able to do automatic updates.
If that’s not working for some reason, you can always download the latest version from the “Purchase History & Licenses” page on my site. With the newer versions of WordPress you can now update an existing plugin by simply using the “Add New” plugin feature and choosing the newer zip file to upload… it will then show you the installed version versus the version you uploaded and ask if you want to update the existing plugin. Makes it really easy to update manually if automatic updates are not working for some reason.

      Stephen,
Sorry – it’s the Volunteer plugin. It shows as active in the license tab. When I login to my account on here, I don’t see it though.

There are several extensions to the Volunteer Sign Up Sheets plugin that I sell licenses to here. The main Volunteer Sign Up Sheets plugin is free and doesn’t need a license.

Looking up your name, I see that you purchased the Customizer and the Custom Fields extension back in December of last year. But, the email on your customer account is different that the one you are using for your forum profile, so maybe you created a different profile for the forum?
The license keys for both of those plugins you purchased show as being active.

If you still have your email receipt, it should also have download links in it. I will find your order and have my system send you the receipt again, although it will go to the email address you used when you ordered.

I noticed the username difference. I attempted to reset my password using the account I received the receipt on and it sends the password reset email, but quotes this username in it.

So, did you get the new copy of the email receipt I had the system send? Did you get it worked out?

Yes, I received the receipt. I used that email address and came here to reset my password. When I resent my password it listed this username that I’m using on it. I reset the password and logged in, but no subscriptions show.

I’m not sure what the problem is. The email receipt I sent you has the download links for both plugins in it. Under the “Additional information…” heading, there is the list of the two plugins you purchased, and below those are long links that you can click on to download the latest version of the plugins.

If you’re trying to do it through your account on my site, it’s not under “subscriptions”. The subscriptions are the automatic payment subscriptions that will automatically renew each year (unless you cancel, then nothing shows there).

If you want to download from my site, go to the Purchase History & Licenses page here:
      https://stephensherrardplugins.com/checkout/purchase-history/
Then, right at the top should be a list of your orders, and under the “Details” column there is a “View Details and Downloads” text link for each order. Click on that for your most recent order. At the bottom of that page will be a “Products” section with the name of each plugin your purchased along with a download link for the latest version.

      Hey Stephen,
When I go to purchase history when I’m signed into my account, it says, “You have not made any purchases” and nothing is listed there.

I also noticed the CRON function doesn’t seem to be working. I have the sheets setup to send reminders 5 days before and 1 day prior, but it seems that is not triggering.

I apologize for posting in the general forum, but I didn’t have access to certain forums on here. I appreciate all your help.

I still think you are logging in to the wrong account, as it appears you have somehow set up a separate account to use these forums, with a different email address. The email for the account you ordered with ends with nhbcfw.com

I resent the order email to that customer account email the other day, and you should have been able to download with the links in the email. Otherwise, please try logging in to your other account with the correct email, or email me privately if you still can’t get access. I don’t want to publish any credentials here, or even the full email address. You can email me at the email address used for the notifications of replies to this thread… they all come from my regular email address for this site.

As far as the CRON function, that gets set up during activation. If it doesn’t appear to be working, it’s possible the CRON hook got deleted, or never set up properly. All you need to do to fix that, most of the time, is to just deactivate the main (free) plugin, and then activate it again. The main/free plugin sets up the CRON function hook.

      Hey Stephen,
I didn’t have notifications turned on for this thread, but I do now. I’ll send you an email once I get the notification.

I got the receipt email to the @nhbcfw.com email address. When I try to reset the password for that account it resets the password for the account that I am on right now. If I download and install from the links you sent, will that erase anything that is currently posted using the plug in? I don’t want to lose existing content we have using the plugin.

Make sure you are logged out of your second account before you try to reset the password on the other account.

You can install the updates right over the top of the existing versions, as I mentioned earlier. That only updates the plugin code, it will NOT change any of your settings or existing content (those are all stored in the database, and not in the code itself).

Ok – good to know. I just noticed too in the receipt email it shows my “account user name” as this account.

I tried to download & installed the custom fields add-on, which is the plug in with the issue – and when I click the link from the receipt email it says the link has expired.

OK… taking a closer look. The purchase you made a while back showed one email address, but if I look you up in the “Customers” database of the e-commerce software I use, you have both email addresses linked to one customer account. However, if I look in the WordPress Users database, the WordPress account for you is using the email that ends with allencounty.us
So, I guess you don’t have 2 accounts, but any password resets should be going to the email for the WordPress user account.
At this point, I’m not sure why you are not seeing anything in your purchase history & licenses page on my site… that doesn’t make sense. But, for now, you can install from the downloads from the links in the email receipt, and that should give you the latest versions. I don’t think there were any major updates made recently, just a minor bug fix or two that didn’t affect most users.

Ok – thanks for the explanation. I tried to download the updates, but it said the links have expired.

I sent the receipt again. Not sure if that resets the download time limit. Let me know if that works. Otherwise, I may need to login to your account to try to figure out what’s going on and why you can’t see your orders. Not having this type of issue with any other customers.

      Hey Stephen,
Resending the receipt worked. I downloaded the plugin and installed it. As far as the future goes, what do you suggest on how to do updates then? I try to keep everything up to date as possible.

Also – RE the CRON function not working. I disabled and re-enabled the plugin and that doesn’t seem to resolve the issue. When I check the CRON Functions page, it doesn’t seem to be checking hourly. I downloaded WP Crontrol and dont’ see the CRON job in the list either. Any ideas?

Did you deactivate the reactivate the main Volunteer Sign Up Sheets plugin? I’m not at my work computer right now, but if you’re looking at the CRON list, the name of the CRON hook my plugin registers still probably begins with pta_

Now that you have the plugins up to date, hopefully next time you will be able to do automatic updates.

Otherwise, you’ll need to let me know if it’s OK for me to change your password so I can login to your account here and verify that the order is or is not showing up in your account. I can do that and then let you know when I’m done and you can reset your password again to whatever you want. Just let me know.

If, for some reason, it’s not showing up in your account, and we are sure it’s the right account, then I can give you a coupon code you can use to purchase your 2 extensions again for free with your current account, and make sure they actually get associated with that account, and then I can delete the licenses and subscriptions for the old order, and you can use the new ones.
