Hello, this plugin needs to be updated but won’t update. Can you help please? My website is robertsdisplays.com, don’t know if that’ll help. Thanks in advance.

Which plugin?
If it’s a plugin you bought from this site, and you can’t update automatically through the dashboard for some reason, and your license is activated and not expired, then you can login to your account here, and download the zip file again. See the Purchase History & Licenses link in the upper right corner after you are logged in.
Then, you can either uninstall/delete the old version from the plugins page, and then add/upload the new version with the zip file the way you originally installed it. Or, you can extract the files from the zip archive and use FTP to upload and overwrite the files in my plugin’s folder on your server.

Woocommerce Wholesale Ordering. I downloaded the free version originally. Is that the problem? I would think that even the free version would be update-able?

There is no free version. You must have downloaded a free version of some other wholesale type plugin, because mine has never had a free version.
But, I searched my sales/licenses and found your order. I have resent you the order receipt, which will also have a download link since your license is still active.
You can download and use what I mentioned above to update manually. Nothing will be lost if you delete the old version of the plugin and then re-install the new version.
Your server may be having trouble communicating with mine if the automatic updates are failing (could also be a firewall issue).

Oh, yes, I remember now! Sorry, there are many plugins I use and forgot this is one I paid for. The plugin install failed. Not sure why…

Might be a problem with file/directory permissions.
Do you have FTP access? You should be able to simply upload the files within the zip archive and overwrite the files on the server.

Who is your hosting company? Who set up the site for you?
FTP is pretty simple, and something you need to learn if you are trying to run your own web sites. The best free FTP client is FileZilla… makes it easy. Once you have the connection details, you just find the files on your computer on the left side, and find the destination files on your server on the right side, and then select and drag and drop from one side to the other, depending on if you want to upload or download.

If you have a webmaster or web designer who helped you out, they will know FTP.
If not, then if you get the FTP login details from your hosting company, and send them to me privately through the contact form (do NOT post them here!), I can upload the newer files for you.

It’s hard to know for sure why it’s not working for you. Could be any number of reasons. I have one or two others who have difficulties updating as well, but haven’t been able to figure out the reason yet.
If you know what IP address your site is at, I can check to see if it’s in the block list on my server’s firewall for some reason. Or, your hosting company’s firewall could also be blocking connections to my server for the types of connection needed for the update.
As mentioned before, you can download the newer version from my site. Then deactivate and delete the old version from your site and re-install the newer version by uploading the zip file through the add plugin screen (the way you originally installed it). You won’t lose any settings.

The IP address is 72.167.190.174 or 172.6.168.162, wordpress says the first one, the ip lookup I did said the second one.

I also tried to find where to download it again but it wants me to buy it. Where do I go?

Your IP was not found in my firewall, so you aren’t being blocked. First IP is your server, the second one you listed is from whatever computer your are on to post your messages as my site shows which IP you are posting from. I checked them both to be safe, but neither IP is listed in my server’s firewall tables.

To download, make sure you are logged into your account on my site, and then click on the “Purchase History & Licenses” link in the upper right. Look for the receipt for your purchase, open that, and there will be a download link.

Thank you very much! I just deleted and uploaded the new one and it seems to be fine now. Not sure why I have to do it that way but as long as it works! Thanks again! 🙂
